Conference
The Ussher
Society held its 46th Annual Conference at the Tregenna
Castle Hotel, St. Ives, Cornwall. The 3-day conference
for earth and environmental scientists working in south-west
England and related areas comprised two days of presentations,
incorporating
a joint session with the South West Regional Group of the Geological
Society, and a field excursion.
The presentation days were Thursday
3rd and Friday 4th of January
The
Scott Simpson Lecture was presented by Dr Richard
Scrivener,
of the British Geological Survey, on Thursday 3rd January,
and was entitled
“From Dines to the 21st Century:
Past activity, research and prospects for metal mining in SW
England”
A half-day joint session with the
South West Regional Group of the Geological Society took place
on the afternoon of Friday
4th January, the session theme was "Applied
Geology of South West England".
