The main presentation days were Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th of January - oral or poster contributions were presented covering diverse subject areas.

The Scott Simpson Lecture was presented by Dr Jean-Bernard Edel (Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg) on:

"Structure and geodynamics of the Variscan belt of western and central Europe in the light of geophysical data (gravimetric, magnetic, seismic and palaeomagnetic)."

In addition to the general papers and posters, there were thematic sessions on the Variscan of Europe, Quaternary topics and tungsten mining, with special reference to the forthcoming re-opening of Hemerdon Mine.

An icebreaker reception was kindly provided by IGI Ltd.
